THE AFRICAN RENAISSANCE
– In 2016 the ferrum team traveled around a few African Countries filming and exploring as much of the continents art as possible. In 2017 Ferrum presented paper in Venice on ‘The African Renaissance and African Identity’ during the African Art in Venice Forum (to start the Venice Biennial)
Now, Ferrum is putting this together in a documentary. The Documentary is my journey around the continent through art, asking people what it means for them to be African. The importance of this is that we believe that if we can define our identity, then it would translate into practical and more sustainable development on the continent.
The documentary is engaging artists, directors of national galleries, diaspora and country representatives among others, to get their perspectives on what it means to be African
