About

The African Art in Venice Forum convened stakeholders from around the world over 2 days at the start of the Venice biennial. The Forum was created by a team wishing to increase representation of art from the continent, in direct response to the currently poor representation at the biennial.

Ferrum participated in this forum by sharing findings from the on-going research on what it means to be African. The panel session ‘African Imaginary Countries’ provided the ideal platform for a discussion on the subject. It was here that the Gallery presented its concept on the African Renaissance; the idea of an on-going cultural revolution that will have significant impact not only on art and expression, but particularly on social development.”
